New Jersey’s autism insurance mandate requires state-regulated plans to cover behavioral therapy for autism. Self-funded employer plans sit outside state law and follow their own policy, so ask your HR team which type you have.
Paying privately
Some families self-pay for a focused program or for parent training while an authorization is pending. It is worth asking providers what a reduced-hour start looks like rather than assuming full-time or nothing.
